News Story

In protest of the recent state and university budget and program cuts, a group of Michigan State University students known as Alleft MSU protests outside the Michigan Capital Building on October 30, 2009. The group is new to the MSU community; Sophomore Kevin Lynch and Junior  Lila Wakeman explain the group's goals, as well as its collective outrage at the university's cutbacks.

Published Work

The day I went to work on my news story about the budget protestors, I met up with a photographer from the Spartan Edge magazine named Agnieszka Spieszny; as it turns out, we both had the same professor for JRN 310 at MSU. Agnieszka asked if I would be willing to let her use some of the photos I had taken, and said that I was. She ended up using seven of my photos for her story [which can be found here: http://spartanedge.com/2009/11/02/spare-change-for-education/]. It was the first (and to date only) time I've ever been published in any media.

Sports

The soccer programs of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University meet in their annual rivalry game on October 25th, 2009 at Old College Field in East Lansing, MI. MSU maintained a solid command of the game, and retained possession of the Bear Trophy after the 2–1 win. MSU is 27–3–5 all time against Michigan, 14–1–3 at home.
